Restoring The Insulation & Water Protection

We completed this project in just a few weeks. That’s a respectable amount of time considering the extent of the renovations that were required. Like all home remodels, one of the primary points of concern is Water Proofing.

To understand the risk that water poses to your home, it’s important to understand it’s behavior in nature. In essence, water is the nature’s Natural Solvent. It has the capability of sneaking in behind crevasses, soaking into wood, creating wet and dry rot and spreading mold and mildew. Left to it’s own devices, water will increase the aging process of your home. It has the capability of spreading bacteria & weakening the structure of your home. Instead, we need to find creative and proven ways to extract moisture and prevent it from ever entering your home.

Quality Materials

In order to properly protect our client from the threat of moisture, we installed high quality house wrap and grooved siding. For those new to the construction industry, House Wrap is a waterproofing membrane that lays between the plywood and wood paneling. It’s commonly purchased at Home Depot and other supply houses. It’s a popular product due to its dependability and critical protection characteristics. However, not all house wrap is created equal. It’s impotant to ensure that your contractor is installing a house wrap to drives to eliminate moisture in a proactive manner.

In additional to our house wrap,  our wood plank panels are grooved on both ends and sides so that they mount properly to our plywood. We also lay them evenly upon one another and ensure there are no gaps and bows; so they lay snugly together. Little details like this are essential to keeping moisture out the interior walls of your home.

The Trick of Level Cutting

Moving on, anytime new exterior wood paneling is installed on a home, it’s always critical to check for level, constantly! Like water in a bowl, wood paneling & windows do not lie. It’s imperative that we lay chalk lines and check for level as we cut each piece of wood. This is crucial when it comes to windows and door panes. Maintaining level between the wood panels and window / door frames ensures a professional looking design.

Here you can see our crews installing new plywood framework. After we removed the old material, we need to create a new structure for the wood paneling to mount to. Secondly, we need to waterproof & insulate the exterior walls to retain heat and keep out moisture.

Installing The New Panel Siding

Wood Paneling is a very viable construction material that is more cost efficient than brick, stone, steel or concrete. For home owners who want to invest in their homes with some exterior renovations, wood paneling is a great way to save on cost. This allows our clients to retain more funds in their budget for additional repairs to their homes.

By saving on material costs, our client was able to restore the foundation of this home and install new drywall inside the home. These were crucial steps for this project. By working with our client and their budget, we were able to maximize their home investment to the areas of the home that needed it most. We take cooperating with our clients and their budgets very seriously. It’s our Advocate Promise and what sets us apart from other home contractors.
